Should Plastic Bags be in Super Markets?

Plan:
Introduction
First -  Ozone layer
Second -  Marine life
Third -  Plastic bags vs paper bags
Conclusion - summarize it all up

Should Plastic Bags be in Super Markets?

I think plastic bags are a very bad choice for the environment. They are very bad for the marine life as well as the ozone layer and don’t forget us as well.
Plastic bags are made from a type of toxic gas. When plastic bags are burnt they release the toxic gas which travels to the ozone layer Which makes the hole bigger. This will let in more ultraviolet rays which will melt the ice bergs.

Sea animals are saying hello to heaven and bye to life because of all the plastic bags that are polluting the environment. We may recognise what plastic bags look like but sea creatures may not. Here’s an example turtles love to eat jellyfish but to them plastic bags look exactly like jellyfish. Imagine you’re a sea creature and you have a piece of plastic stuck in you throat. Not nice at all.

Plastic bags are bad but what about paper bags. Paper bags are just as bad as plastic bags because we are cutting down loads of trees and trees produce oxygen so that we can breath. The less trees we have the less oxygen we have. Then we could all die from the lack of air.

I hope you see why plastic bags are very bad for the environment. This is why we should not use plastic bags in the supermarket. I hope you enjoyed my piece of writing.
Last week in Te Ngahere we wrote persuasive pieces of writing. We were learning to write a persuasive piece of writing. I think I wrote a good persuasive but I think I might have to work on making it a little longer. I hope you enjoy reading my writing.

During the week Te Ngahere made a visual mihi. We made visual mihi so we can remember what to say for our mihi. We have to practise what to say and our visual mihi helps us. I chose these images because they all relate to what the mihi means. It helps me understand it because the picture is what the word is on the piece of paper.

Russia's Native Plants

Did you know one of Russia’s native plants is a flower that is called a Chamomile? The Camomile is a type of daisy and it’s sap can be used for bruises and sprains.

Firstly, The Rhododendrons has ten species of its kind. Most of the species of Rhododendrons are deciduous. Rhododendrons is one of the most popular plants in Russia.

Secondly, the Iris flower has a lot of species in its kind in total it has about sixty species. Irises are very popular in Russia. The Iris gets its name from the greek word rainbow. The iris plant is a popular garden flower.

Thirdly, The butterfly weed plant is grown from seed in home gardens. These brilliant flowers attract butterflies. Some people call it milkweed when none of the species have milky sap.

In conclusion, Russia has a lot of weird names for flowers. They have lots of species and they are all very pretty.

A few weeks ago in Te Ngahere we were learning to write a report. I also learnt how to use proper nouns and common nouns, organise my learning into paragraphs and to use topic sentences. We had to write more than 2 reports.

Russia Report

Russia

Did you know Russia is the biggest country in the world? Russia is 6.6 square miles long. There are millions of people living in the country.

Firstly, did you know that Russia has over one hundred and forty three million, three hundred and sixty nine thousand, six hundred and sixty two people living in the country? That is quite a lot. The total land area is 16,299,981 Km long.
Russia's population is equivalent to 1.91% of the total world population.

Secondly, Russia has a variety of native animals like the Amur Tiger. The Amur Tiger has five times better night vision than humans. The Amur Tiger came close to extinction. But is no longer close to extinction thanks to the help of scientists. They save the Amur Tiger by protecting them in a zoo.The karakurt spider is among the 10 most dangerous spiders on Earth. The bite causes pain, which quickly passes but after a while between 15 minutes and 6 hours, intense pain spreads throughout the bitten limb and then to the muscles of the body, chest and abdomen. Immediately after the bite within two minutes at the most, you can hold a burning match against the bitten place. Any poison that has not already flowed into the body is destroyed by the heat. Russian animals are really cool and there is a lot of native animals in Russia.

Thirdly, in Russia they speak Russian, Russian dictionaries have 130,000 to 150,000 words in them. Cyril and Methodius invented the alphabet in Russia they were brothers. Almost seven million out of 145 million people speak English in Russia.

In conclusion, Russia is a very big country, that has loads of native animals living in it as well as people. Russia has very big dictionaries that will be very boring to find one word.

In Week two Te Ngahere had to write a country report about our chosen country. We were learning to write an informational report. Every time we went to a workshop we would get a new WALT like use semicolons in my writing. I really enjoyed writing informational reports. I wrote five reports.

Fidget Spinner Art

A few weeks ago, Te Ngahere and Te Maunga drew their own fidget Spinners. We were learning to use as much space as we could. We were drawing fidget spinners to go with our fidget spinner writing. We used crayon and dye in our picture.

Here is my story !!!

I am talking to you today because I think fidget spinners should not be allowed in class or even school.

Firstly, they can distract you in class and affect other people. They can make you confused because you will be looking at it, and you might forget what you are doing and confuse you.

Secondly, they can be really expensive, some can cost over ten dollars and what is the point of getting something that small for ten dollars.

Thirdly, somebody might want a turn and then they may break it. Then you could get sad and some people are not normal, they might have a fight.

For all these reasons this is why fidget spinners should not be allowed  at Paihia School.

The Haunted House Animation

Once upon a time there was a scary monster that lived in the haunted house. He got very lonely and wanted a friend but nobody liked him because he was a scary warty troll. Sometimes people would come to the haunted house and they would try and be brave but then they would run straight back out the door.

But one day a little blonde girl named Alexis and her best friend with brown dark hair named Brodi went down to the haunted house but before they could get there, they had to cross two horrible obstacles. First they had to cross the lake it was filled with sharks, crocodiles, octopus, electric eels, piranhas, water snakes and stinging jellyfish.

Alexis said, “I know a way through.” She swam through and talked to the animals because she had the power to talk to animals. The animals made a path for them both. They swam across the lake and went to the other side and dried off and stayed there, they also set up a tent for the night.

The next morning they woke up and packed up camp the next challenge was to go through a deep and a dark forest without screaming or getting even a slight scared. They started walking through the forest as happy as can be but they didn’t know there was a bear behind them. Then Brodi felt a little bit of air blowing on her leg and then she felt a slimy thing it was snot from the baby bear. They picked it up and the bear licked Brodi and Alexis on their face the slimy droll dribbled down their faces.

They made it through the scary forest and it was time to go into the Haunted house they thought it wasn’t even a little bit scary. They walked to the top and then they saw the troll then they were starting to get scared. But then they heard something, he was crying, they went over. The troll said, “I have no friends, could you guys please be my friends?” The two little girls said, “Yes,”  and they all lived happily ever after.

The End

Last week we made our own character and setting narrative. I was learning to use speech marks in my writing. I think that they are quite hard to do and that I need to improve on them. They have a lot of rules around them and that is what makes them hard. After that we had to make an animation.

 I Remember

 I Remember...
Sitting in the sand as hot as an oven My togs getting hotter and hotter I was sweating making a lake beneath me Until I was too hot and then, splash! I jumped in the fresh, sparkling water and felt relieved I dived excitedly, jumping and making terrific splashes I cooled down as quick as a piece of freezing ice That was hot summer.

I was learning to write a piece of descriptive writing to describe my summer. Notice and use the structure used in the exemplar. Make my writing interesting for the audience by using descriptive adjectives, verbs and nouns. Edit and recraft writing.

What I think I did well I added some similes and adjectives.
